Atlanta, July 16, 2026 – The Court of Appeals of Georgia welcomes its newest judge to the bench, Judge Paige Reese Whitaker, who was sworn in today by Governor Brian Kemp.
“We are delighted to welcome Judge Whitaker to the Court of Appeals,” said Chief Judge Trenton Brown. “Given her many years as a superior court judge, presiding over a wide array of cases, she is very well-positioned to serve on this court in this next phase of her career. Judge Whitaker has an excellent reputation as a lawyer, jurist, and community member. The judges and staff at our court are ready to help her with the transition in any way we can.”
Judge Whitaker earned her law degree from Duke University of Law, after graduating magna cum laude from the Honors Program of the College of Charleston. Following her graduation from law school, Judge Whitaker worked briefly at a real estate litigation firm before joining the Georgia Attorney General’s Office, where she served for over a decade. She then worked as a Deputy District Attorney in Fulton County, where she led the Appeals Division of the state’s largest and busiest District Attorney’s office.
Before her appointment to the Fulton County Superior Court in 2017, Judge Whitaker litigated cases in the United States Supreme Court, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, all of Georgia’s federal district courts, the Georgia Supreme Court, and the Georgia Court of Appeals, receiving local and national awards for her appellate advocacy.
